Theme
: One of the key collective economic challenges in Ireland is to
increase levels of innovation in the economy to enable the island of
Ireland to become a true knowledge economy and to be recognised as an
innovation and commercialisation hub in Europe and beyond.
The
theme of the conference is
Building Collaborative Networks for
Innovation and its broad objective is to provide a view from leading
experts and stakeholders on the benefits and successes of collaborative
networks as drivers and facilitators of innovation in Ireland for the
development of a knowledge economy.
Keynote Speaker
: Professor Walter Powell Professor of Education and affiliated Professor of Sociology, Organisational Behaviour, Management Science, and Communication, Stanford University
Day 1
: Day 1 of the conference will focus on the theme of
Building Collaborative Networks for Innovation in a Knowledge Economy blending contemporary thinking on collaborative networks with lessons from key stakeholders. Speakers from key funding agencies, the venture capitalist community, along with speakers from industry, SMEs and University start-ups, covering both the Life Sciences and ICT sectors will be involved.
Day 2
: Day 2 of the conference will focus on
Academic Reflections and Future Challenges and will bring together researchers from Ireland and internationally, from different disciplines, who will explore and examine current research on innovation networks. This will assist in strengthening innovation studies in Ireland and contribute to relevant strategy and policy formation and innovation practice. Day 2 will also include a panel discussion on multinational enterprises in innovation networks.
Audience
: All are welcome to attend on either or both days of the conference. The audience for the conference will include industry and business leaders, researchers and academics, policy-makers, VCs, SME leaders and students from across Ireland and internationally.
The event is free as part of the InterTradeIreland All-Island Innovation Programme.
